                                         Treasure Island Characters

Jim Hawkins- A young boy about 13 or 14 years old. He is the main character in the book of Treasure Island and also narrates the story most of the time. He is pulled into a bunch of crazy situations that he can barely pull himself out of. If it wasn't for Billy Bones that walked into the "Admiral Benbow", the adventure would never have occurred.  After Jim's father dies and Jim is left to run the pub with his mother that Billy Bones arrives and all the changes begin to happen. When Billy Bones is dying he hands Jim the treasure map to Treasure Island, and Jim is pulled into the grand mystery.

Billy Bones- When Billy Bones is first found in the very beginning of the book  he is hiding from some one and does not want to be found.  He picks the  Admiral Benbow Inn to hide in since not many people where staying there. He thought that it would be the best place to stay in hiding. After he is told that he is going to die from all the rum he drank,  he knew he needed to do some thing about the treasure map.

Although he is a stinky grouch, he tells Jim where he can find the treasure and also gives him the treasure map. Jim can't wait to  find it, and decides to hunt for the treasure.

Dr. Livesey-is also the narrator of the fun adventure of Treasure

Island for a few chapters. He saved Billy Bones life once in the beginning of the story.Unfortunately, he wasn't around to get Billy  to stop drinking so much rum.  Dr. Livesey goes along with Jim  on this amazing trip to find the treasure.

Captain Smollett-is the captain of the Hispanolia and also the captain of the Crew/Hands for the dangerous mystery that lays ahead. He demands respect from the crew/hands in the story. He get very upset when they did not respect him.

Long John Silver  is an old sea cook, and the leader of the beastly pirates. This mysterious character has only one leg and uses a wooden crutch to support him and to wobble around with. Silver is a very unusual character with basically two sides to him. One side is gentle and kind like he  first was with Jim. He was pleasant and admirable. The bad side is more like Pew, the blind beggar, who seemed very harmless, but happened to be brutal and cruel. Silver was also deformed in a way.  He was a tricky, violent, and very harmful man.

Squire Trelawney- is the figure in the book that is often playing everything as it goes. Although most of the time he appears to be on top of things, he often makes mistakes. For example his hiring of Long John Silver and the mutineers tops the list of mistakes and miscalculations which lead to the destruction of the entire journey. He is very innocent and confident, and, is always constantly being swamped. His best aspect would be his ability to shoot straight – throughout Treasure Island , he is usally given the situations that require the best shot because of his amazing marksmanship.

The Buccaneers - These crazy buccaneers came with Pew to the Admiral Bendbow to find the treasure chest Billy Bones was hiding. They were harsh and violent with everything they touched. They were accused of not tryng hard enough by Pew, but they quickly scrambled when they heard someone coming. These men tore the Admiral Bendbow, Jim's parent's inn, into nothing.

Black Dog A violent pirate and enemy of Billy Bones. Black Dog makes a startling visit to Billy in the Admiral Bendbow and threatens him. Billy attacks Black Dog with his sword. He flees but gives a messenger of the coming violence in the novel. Black Dog's name stands for both the dark and the beastly sides of piracy. He appears as a friend but quickly turned into a threat.

Pew  is a blind beggar that uses a cane to stear himself. He is known to be very violent with others even though you wouldn’t expect deformed old man to have such strength. He had the sympathy of many people, like Jim who just set a trap to lead him to Billy Bones. Pew was smart and braver than the buccaneers when he was the only one was sent to Billy Bones by himself and still got the job done.
